LandShaping around the world since 1989

Paolo Gueltrini, italian landscape and golf designer, founded in January 2014 his new landscape design firm: P.G.LandShapes, located in Ravenna, Italy.
Former founder and owner of GSA for 25 years, he was graduated at Bologna University in 1989; he is member of IFLA, International Federation of Landscape Architects, since 1993; he has developed a particular talent on hand drafting artistic landscapes since childhood, a skills that helps the visualization during the landscape design process, before the technical drawings production.
He proposes a broad range of professional abilities with an innovative and environmental awareness approach including infrastructural engineering, ecology and geology.
The starting point on any design commitment is the landscape analyses, with an approach that respect the historical heritages, local culture and sustainable resources.
PGLS team can deliver Land Art and landscaping solutions to a wide range of customers from private developers to local authorities following specific design rules and directives.
Notable projects designed and supervised are public parks and golf courses like Old Head of Kinsale, in Ireland, Meloneras Golf Gran Canaria, Barbados Golf in the Caribbean with Arch. Ron Kirby (famous American golf designer and father-in-golf of Paolo Gueltrini), Modena Golf, Pescara Golf, Faenza, Bologna Casalunga Golf, and the Ferrara University Golf Club.
PGLS in partnership with Ron Kirby and Bates Golf Design (Florida USA) is actually operating on a large number of projects in the European and African continent.
With Kyle Phillips, as partner of GSA and Intertecno-Rome collaborated at the Landscape design for Verdura International Golf and Spa Resort (Rocco Forte Hotels), issuing environmental impact studies, relationship with local authorities, developing construction drawings and supervision for drainage, irrigation, landscape, wetlands and orchards.
In Progress as consultant for PICCINI G.E. are the landscape and golf design for Oyala Djibloho Golf Hotel & Conference Center in Equatorial Guinea, Africa with 18 hole golf course and 50 presidential villas; also with Piccini architects team, he designed the landscape for Ndjamena Congress Center in Tchad.
With Stramigioli Associati, is in progress the design phase of residential buildings in Dakar Senegal.
The Public Park of San Donà del Piave, with arch. Cino Zucchi and GSA was awarded with the Honourable Mention at the “Gold Medal for Italian Architecture” 2009 organized by Triennale di Milano, and invited at the Biennale of Venice Architecture Exibition in 2010.

 

STAFF E PARTNERS

Adele Fiorani

Graduated at the University of Architecture of Ferrara with a thesis on Urban and landscape redevelopment of the area crossed by the channel Candiano in Ravenna. She completed her training with a Master’s Degree in “Science and landscape and environment design” and the bursary Project Leonardo at the studio Flores&Prats in Barcellona. In Italy she has long been working at the Consortium Management of the Park of the Po Delta, dealing with land use planning related to environmental issues and landscape, and at professional firms acquiring multidisciplinary skills related recovery and upgrading of areas and existing buildings, building design, green design.

 

Elena Cereda

Graduated in Archeology and architecture project at the University of Architecture of Cesena. She is interested in the relationship between archeology and landscape and the redevelopment of public spaces. Her activities include design and engineering within the study, dealing with the preparation of projects of parks, gardens and golf courses.

 

 

 

Matteo Biondi

He is graduating in Landscape Design and Environmental Protection at the School of Agronomy in Bologna University. Enthusiast of botany and garden’s history, he deals with construction sites in the local area, personally supervising the construction of green spaces.

 

 
 
 

Ron Kirby

Ron Kirby knew from a young age he wanted to make a career in the golf world. Son of the local golf Pro in his club, he started as caddie, then caddie master, maintenance crew member and greenkeeper at the local country club; growing up, Ron gained all the incentives he needed to stay involved with the sport of golf. After the school of fine arts and graduating from the University of Massachusetts-Stockbridge, Ron took a position as design associate with Dick Wilson, for whom he worked until 1963. Ron then served under Robert Trent Jones, Sr. as a design associate on courses in the United States, the Caribbean and Europe (designing also the Pevero Golf in Sardinia).
Having gained extensive experience in golf course design and construction, Ron founded his own design firm in 1970. Fellow architect Gary Player served as a consulting partner in the firm, and the team’s projects spanned the globe. Eventually, Ron sold his firm to Golden Bear, Inc. and joined Nicklaus Design Services as overseer of all European projects. Today, Ron is temporarily retired from the Nicklaus organization, but he is retained by various firms as a special consultant, in constant partnership with Paolo Gueltrini. With a five-decade career under his belt, Ron has garnered the reputation as one of the most respected and appreciated golf course designers in the industry. His talent has been used to create courses in a lengthy list of countries that includes Ireland, Japan, South Africa, Italy, France, Denmark, Germany, Spain and Austria, and he is still involved with international projects today.

Giovanni Nava

Giovanni Nava, after the Master’s Degree in Agronomy from the University of Bologna, gets the title of Superintendent, graduating from the Italian Golf Federation School, Turf Section, in Rome. He is Turf Agronomist, Golf Course Manager, Sport and Amenity Turf Maintenance Manager. Since 1992 he has always been a Head Greenkeeper of an 18 hole golf course, managing all the key aspects of maintenance tasks, including reconstructions, improvements, irrigation and drainage system implementation or reconstructions. He has always been in charge for selection and purchase of all the supplies needed for the golf course maintenance by analysing the best possibility in finding the best product at the best price. Since 1993 he follows the maintenance of football fields of various structures, through the preparation of annual plans and agronomic advice for periodic monitoring developments on the turf during the season and during periods of regeneration. He worked for years with PGLandShapes on the choice of appropriate grass species and agronomic procedures in many projects in Italy and abroad.
